Today, Jeff Mirkin continues to direct the business his father founded. As president of Budget SOCAL. Jeff oversees more than 75 Budget locations licensed to operate within the SOCAL territory. Many Budget Rent a Car locations within Southern California are operated by Budget Corporations under seperate license agreements issud by SOCAL. With executive offices still in Beverly Hills at 150 South Doheny Drive, the SOCAL territory covers Southern California from San Luis Obispo to Kern and San Bernardino Counties, to the Mexican border; including the majority of Nevada. The SOCAL operation is the largest of its kind in Budget's nationwide system, with a fleet in excess of 15,000 cars.
The Mirkin and Bird families remain active in the business with the same passion and innovative spirit needed in 1958 to make the original Budget operations successful. In a recent meeting (March 2003), Rubin reminded the SOCAL staff that Budget's early success came from a focused effort serving the off airport market.
